National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) IEEE Chapter

The NITK IEEE Chapter has a long history and is one of the most decorated and established student branches in the Bangalore section as well as the R10 region. Founded in 1988, IEEE NITK has progressed exponentially and involved itself in various regional and global technical activities. EEE NITK is recognized as a dynamic body of enthusiastic engineers with a passion to create change with innovation. The branch is headed by the branch counsellor, Dr. Sumam David, Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the student branch chair for the year 2017-2018, Aditya Kulkarni, final year student in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, here at NITK.
With student membership strength of nearly 600 and over a 100 executive members, IEEE NITK strives towards excellence and justifies IEEE as a pioneer of technological innovations. IEEE NITK actively organizes intra-branch activities, institute level activities and actively participates in initiatives of its affinity groups such as WIE (Women in Engineering) and SIGHT (Special Interest Group for Humanitarian Technologies). IEEE NITK’s participation in GINI (Global Integrated Network of IEEE) has been of great importance to the growth of the student branch. IEEE NITK provides its student members with good platforms for sharing knowledge and implementing technology in practical projects through Special Interest Groups (SIGs).
Our significant achievements include The Best Student Branch Award (2007,2013), R10 IEEE GINI Student Branch Award (2010), R10 IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award and Student Enterprise Award for the Quadcopter Project, Outstanding Branch Counselor & Advisor won by our branch counsellor, Dr. Sumam David and Silver Medal in The Darrel Chong Student Activity Award.
Looking into the future, the vision of the NITK IEEE chapter is to:

  • Add on to the student member benefits by involving student members in different innovative projects and research.
  • Improve global presence of the student chapter by taking part in international competitions, conferences and talks.
  • Act as an effective platform to share and build technical knowledge inside the college and support.
