Dr. Suresh H Jangamshetti is Senior Member IEEE and Professor in Department of E&EE, Basaveshwar Engineering College (Autonomous), Bagalkot with 30 years of teaching & research experience. He obtained M.Tech in Power Systems and Ph.D in Wind Energy from IIT Kharagpur. His expertise are in Solar-Wind Energy System Design, Power Systems and Energy Conservation. He has guided 4 PhDs, 45+ UG, 35+ PG projects and has two pending patents. He has received Rs. 93+ lakhs R&D grants and has 75+ technical publications. He has established R&D infrastructure in SCADA for distribution automation and Renewable Energy. Has organized 38 faculty/student development programs, attended 52 programs and delivered more than 120+ invited talks. He is a FULBRIGHT alumni – received Fulbright-Nehru visiting lecture fellowship, Michigan Technological University, Houghton during Fall 2011. He is Fellow Member IEI & member of Karnataka State Council for Electrical Division, LMISTE, LMISWE, LMSVAK, DMKSCST and Rotary member.
Association with IEEE: Dr. Suresh has 29 years of association with IEEE (student member 1988, elevated to professional member in 1990 and senior member in 2002). He started IEEE Student Branch at BEC Bagalkot on 29th Jan 1994 and became founder Branch Counselor. In 1996, he was awarded “Outstanding Branch Counselor” for R10. IEEE Bangalore section conferred on him “Technical Publication Award” and “Outstanding Branch Counselor” for the year 2009 & 2010 respectively. He is member of IEEE PES society since 2003 and member of IEEE Education society since Jan 2013. He has been responsible for starting/rejuvenating IEEE student branches/activities at BLDEA CET Bijapur, TEC Gadag, GIT Belgaum, KLECET Belgaum, HSIT Nidasoshi, GNEC Bidar, RNSIT Bangalore, AIeMS Bangalore. Under his branch counsellorship, BEC-IEEE launched (i) National level Technical Fest ‘KSHITIJ’ which later was renamed as ‘NOVUS’, (ii) celebration of ‘Teacher’s Day’, (iii) celebration of ‘Gandhiji & Shastriji’ birthday, (iv) BEC-IEEE ‘Moonlight Dinner’. He is ExeCom member of IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE-PES Chapter. He is also coordinator for North Karnataka IEEE activities.
